Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to India

AMANDA STROHAN (B.Admin, University of Regina, 2001) serves as Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to India with concurrent accreditation to Nepal and Bhutan. Prior to her appointment as Deputy High Commissioner, she served as MinisterCounsellor (Management) at the High Commission of Canada to India from 2018 to 2021. Ms. Strohan joined Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 2001. She has served as Second Secretary and Vice Consul in Moscow, Russia (2002 to 2004), Counsellor and Consul General in Beirut, Lebanon (2004 to 2008), Counsellor and Consul in Rabat, Morocco (2008 to 2011), Counsellor and Consul in Brussels, Belgium (2013 to 2018). She was Director of Operations for Regional Services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa from 2011 to 2013. She is the recipient of a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. She is married to Ian Fraser Hirchfield OBE.
